You will lead the Youth Leadership Program, working directly with young people aged 12–25 who are disengaged or at risk.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and run on-country day trips and camps alongside Elders and community members
- Identify opportunities and programs for improved youth services
- Provide one-on-one and group support in safe, culturally strong spaces
- Recruit and supervise a full-time Youth Support Worker
- Partner with schools, services and agencies for joined-up support
- Track and report on program outcomes
About you (Selection criteria)
- Understands Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and can communicate sensitively in a discrete Aboriginal community
- Experience working with young people (youth work, community services, education, sport or similar) with trauma-informed, culturally protected practice
- Strong communicator with young people, families and government agencies
- Works independently and meets deadlines in a remote community setting
- Keeps good records and contributes to program and funding reports
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check
- Current 'C' Class Open (Manual) or 'LR' Driver's License valid in Queensland
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain within a short timeframe
