The Opportunity

You'll join a small,



high-performing engineering team where you'll have genuine ownership over the systems you build.

Rather than maintaining legacy applications, you'll design and develop scalable software from the ground up, helping shape the technology platform that underpins our investment business.

You'll work directly with portfolio managers, traders and quantitative researchers to solve technically challenging, real-world problems where performance, reliability and scalability matter.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain high-performance software supporting research, trading and portfolio management.
- Build scalable cloud-native applications and distributed services on AWS.
- Design APIs, data pipelines and real-time systems for processing large volumes of market and investment data.
- Improve the architecture, scalability, reliability and security of existing platforms.
- Build tools that automate investment workflows and improve operational efficiency.
- Work closely with portfolio managers, traders and quantitative researchers to translate complex business challenges into elegant technical solutions.
- Identify technical bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement across our technology stack.
- Champion engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, documentation and code quality.
- Contribute to the long-term architecture and evolution of Catalyst's technology platform.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and takes pride in building exceptional software.

Ideally you'll have:

- 5+ years' experience building production software.
- Strong computer science fundamentals.
- Excellent programming skills in Python, Java,



C#, Go or similar languages.
- Experience designing scalable backend systems and APIs.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Experience writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A curious mindset and passion for continuous learning.

Nice to Have

- React and TypeScript experience.
- Docker and containerised applications.
- Event-driven architectures and message brokers.
- Experience building real-time or low-latency systems.
- Experience within financial markets or capital markets.
- Experience building greenfield platforms from scratch.
