Join IAG’s Retail Technology team and lead the engineering excellence that powers digital experiences for millions of customers across Australia and New Zealand. As Digital Engineering Manager, you’ll shape technical strategy, uplift engineering capability, and enable faster, autonomous delivery across our multi‑brand platforms. This is a leadership role where you’ll influence architecture, standards, and culture—driving innovation at scale while ensuring stability and quality. This is a permanent full‑time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney) or Naarm (Melbourne).

What You’ll Do

- Lead and coach Technical Leads and guide engineering practices across multiple squads.
- Drive engineering standards, architectural alignment, and technical quality.
- Shape and execute platform strategy and roadmap aligned to business priorities.
- Champion engineering culture through mentorship, Dev Guilds, and capability uplift.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to deliver secure, scalable digital experiences.
- Govern platform reliability and performance against agreed service levels.
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement across teams and partners.

What You’ll Bring

- Proven experience leading engineering teams in large,



complex digital environments.
- Strong technical background in up-to-date web technologies and cloud‑native architectures.
- Ability to read and interpret code; you may have started as an engineer before moving into leadership.
- Expertise in technology strategy, platform thinking, and federated delivery models.
- Exceptional people leadership, talent development, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and context switching in fast‑paced environments.
- Familiarity with React, Tailwind, Storybook, NestJS, AWS, Microservices is nice to have.
