Introduction

Nyirrunggulung Rise, located in the Northern Territory of Australia, is a joint venture creating job opportunities, providing training, and supporting social infrastructure. Nyirrunggulung Rise was awarded the Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES) program and will deliver services within our current location.

Role Overview

The Indigenous Pathways Development Officer plays a critical role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students participating in the Aboriginal Health Coaching Program. The position is responsible for providing culturally safe mentoring, pathway planning, participant support, stakeholder engagement and community connection to ensure students successfully complete their studies and transition into employment, further education, leadership opportunities and careers within the Aboriginal health sector.

A day in the life of an Indigenous Pathways Development Officer

- Provide culturally safe mentoring and support to Aboriginal Health Coaching students.
- Conduct regular wellbeing check-ins with students.
- Assist students to identify career goals and future aspiration.
- Support transitions into employment, traineeships, further education and Aboriginal Health Practitioner qualifications.
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
- Engage with Aboriginal Medical Services and health providers to support workforce development opportunities.
- Assist in coordinating student workshops, community events and information sessions.

Skills and Attributes

- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, community engagement, education, health or workforce development.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural values,



protocols and community priorities.
- Respect for cultural protocols and community values.
- Maintain the cultural ethic of RISE, demonstrating respectful relationships and adhering to company and community protocols.

Qualifications

- Qualification in Community Services, Health, Education, Training, Human Services or related field.
- Experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal health workforce development initiatives.
- Understanding of vocational education and training systems.

Requirements

- Have full working rights in Australia.
- Have a current driver’s licence.
- Complete an Australia History Criminal Check.
- Have a current Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check before employment.
- Ability to work Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week.
