National / Operations Manager – Fuel – Tier 2 Contractor

Join a Tier 2 contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering complex aviation and defence fuel pipeline projects. The role is flexible nationally but primarily involves projects ranging from small to $150m+ in aviation and defence fuel pipeline and associated infrastructure.

Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (nationally flexible)

Overview

You will lead projects from tendering through to delivery, managing commercial, contractual, design, safety and stakeholder relations. The position requires robust commercial acumen, client‑facing skills, and experience building and managing performance teams.

Responsibilities

- Business development and tendering
- Design and communicate project programmes to the team
- Deliver projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and adherence to programme
- Identify and manage construction risk throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage project expenditure and cash flow
- Oversee external engineering design aspects
- Conduct progress reporting
- Manage client expectations and provide high‑quality service

Qualifications and Requirements

- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Minimum 10+ years of successful project delivery experience,



ideally from Tier 1 or 2 contractor background in fuel services
- Proven leadership ability in building and motivating teams for high‑quality outcomes
- Experience delivering greenfield projects
- Knowledge of local council and regulatory requirements / standards
- Strong planning and project financial reporting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well‑developed interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Construction Safety Induction (white) card
