Quality & Food Safety Manager - Sumner, Brisbane | 12-month fixed-term contract (parental leave cover) | Food manufacturing

Own quality and food safety end to end for a growing food manufacturer — and set the standard for it.

This is a genuine leadership role, on a 12-month parental leave contract, sitting within the R&D; team at the Sumner site. You'll lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality and Food Safety systems across the business.

You'll be the site's quality authority - the person the business turns to when it matters - while working shoulder to shoulder with Production, Procurement, Warehouse and Commercial to keep standards high and products moving.

What you'll do

- Own, maintain and continuously improve the HACCP-based Quality and Food Safety Management System
- Act as the primary SQF Practitioner and GFCO/gluten-program contact, ensuring compliance to SQF (latest version), Non-GMO and related standards
- Lead incident management, QC, customer complaints, non-conformance closure, verification programs and internal audits
- Be the key driver of quality and food safety culture across the business
- Troubleshoot quality issues, facilitate root-cause problem solving and drive continuous improvement initiatives




- Support new product development and new projects as the quality and food safety expert
- Represent Q&FS; in S&OP; (T2/T3) meetings, providing input and following through
- Lead and develop a small team (2 direct, 3 indirect reports)

What you'll bring

- A degree in Food Technology or related discipline
- SQF Practitioner experience and solid working knowledge of SQF requirements
- Solid understanding of food safety and quality hazards, specifications and laboratory processes
- A track record leading audits, non-conformance management and a positive food safety culture
- The credibility and communication skills to influence both internal teams and external stakeholders — suppliers, customers and auditors
- Sharp prioritisation and the resilience to stand your ground on standards under time, cost and resource pressure
