Position: APS4 Claims Support Officer - Expression of Interest
Location: Perth
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Approx. 10-month contract with potential to extend
Pay Rate: $54.88 per hour + 12% superannuation
Overview
We are opening an Expression of Interest for APS4 Claims Support Officers to join a high-performing federal government team.
In this role, you will assist in the management and processing of complex and sensitive compensation claims relating to service-related injuries and health conditions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to gather and assess information, ensuring claims are handled accurately, efficiently and with a high level of care and confidentiality.
This position operates in a structured legislative environment and requires robust attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage sensitive information with integrity. You will be supported by senior staff while also exercising a level of independence in your day-to-day work.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, assess and document compensation claims in line with legislative and policy guidelines
- Manage inbound and outbound calls with clients and their representatives in a professional manner
- Maintain and update client records using internal systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity
- Research, analyse and assess complex and sensitive information to support claims processing
- Liaise with clients to request additional information and provide updates on claim progress
- Conduct initial eligibility assessments and prepare documentation for further determination
- Process invoices and reimbursements related to claims
- Collaborate with internal teams to support effective decision-making and information sharing
- Manage shared inbox enquiries, including claims and invoices
- Process requests for claim withdrawals
- Maintain knowledge of relevant systems, legislation, and policies through ongoing training
- Support and mentor new team members
- Contribute to process improvements and best practice initiatives
About You
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information confidentially
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within structured policy or legislative environments (desirable)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
