Portland District Health is a 53 bed general hospital located on the picturesque coast of Western Victoria. The hospital’s surgical services include General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics and Gynaecology. The position is well suited to doctors seeking to expand their surgical experience, including ACCRM trainees, residents considering a career in surgery or doctors planning to apply for a surgical training program. The successful applicant will work closely with experienced surgeons assisting in theatre participating in perioperative patient care and developing fundamental surgical knowledge and technical skills. The role offers excellent hands experience in a supportive regional environment with opportunities for supervised learning and professional development. About You
MBBS or equivalent acceptable to AMCGeneral registration (excluding provisional/limited)Experience in Australian Healthcare system or comparable systemExperience in self-management and organisation of work to achieve agreed outcomeComprehensive knowledge regarding delivery of medical services at an Unaccredited Surgical Registrar levelAbility to perform initial management of common medical and surgical clinical emergency presentations on the ward or in our Urgent Care CentreHigh level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills in EnglishClinical experience in the position of an unaccredited surgical registrar or General Practice (beyond internship)
