About the Organisation

Our client is a well-known Queensland statutory authority entering an exciting period of transformation and strategic renewal. This three-month contract provides a rare opportunity to "test drive" a senior executive finance position, offering exposure to executive leadership, strategic decision-making and organisational governance, with the opportunity to apply for the substantive permanent role.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Services, you will lead a high-performing finance function of seven staff (with two direct reports) and act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, Board and senior stakeholders. This is a genuine leadership position where you'll influence organisational strategy while maintaining oversight of the full finance function.

Key responsibilities include

- Leading the organisation's finance function across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, statutory reporting, accounts payable, receivable and governance.
- Providing strategic financial advice to executive leadership, governance committees and senior stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
- Leading key strategic initiatives including quarterly forecasting, financial sustainability planning and governance-related finance projects.
- Ensuring robust financial governance, compliance and risk management while maintaining strong financial controls.
- Building strong partnerships across the organisation to strengthen commercial understanding, financial capability and long-term financial sustainability.

About You





You are an experienced senior finance leader who enjoys balancing strategic leadership with operational oversight. You're confident engaging with executive stakeholders, influencing decision-making and leading a capable finance team through periods of organisational change.

To be successful, you will bring:

- CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent postgraduate finance qualification).
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within government, statutory authorities or another complex, highly regulated environment.
- Solid technical expertise across financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, statutory reporting and governance.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to provide trusted commercial and financial advice.
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing finance teams and fostering a collaborative culture.
- A resilient, adaptable and hands-on leadership style, with the confidence to navigate ambiguity and organisational change.
