If you enjoy handson outdoor work, take pride in keeping public spaces clean and safe, and want to make a visible difference in the community every day, this could be the role for you.

Our Illegally Dumped Rubbish team plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of Council land across the city – supporting community safety, environmental outcomes and highquality city presentation. We’re looking for someone who brings practical skills, a strong safety focus and a positive, teambased approach.

About the role

As a valued member of the Civil Infrastructure team, you’ll support Council’s citywide illegal dumping and hard rubbish collection activities across roadsides, reserves, streetscapes and other public land.

Your work will include identifying, collecting and removing illegally dumped rubbish and hard waste, operating loadshifting plant and attachments, and driving mediumsized trucks in line with licensing requirements and Council procedures. You’ll safely load, transport and dispose of materials, including assisting with the identification and handling of hazardous and nonhazardous waste in accordance with established processes.

You’ll complete daily vehicle and plant checks, carry out basic cleaning and maintenance, report defects, and escalate hazards, contamination or items requiring specialist attention. The role also involves general labouring and support tasks across City Operations as required.

This role may rotate across City Operations teams to support peak workloads, making flexibility, teamwork and communication key to success.

About you

You take pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe and presentable, and understand the importance of timely and professional responses to illegal dumping across the community. You’re practical, reliable and safetyfocused, and enjoy working as part of a team that delivers visible results.

You bring experience operating plant or vehicles,

following procedures, and managing physical, handson work in changing environments. You’re comfortable operating loadshifting equipment, completing routine checks, and are comfortable working outdoors in a range of environmental conditions.

You’re someone who:

- Takes pride in delivering clean, safe and wellpresented public spaces
- Works safely, follows procedures and maintains a strong safety mindset
- Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
- Uses initiative to identify hazards, risks or items requiring escalation
- Is adaptable and willing to support other City Operations teams when required

An MR driver’s licence and experience in waste collection, illegal dumping removal, operating loaders or trucks, handling hazardous materials, or working in a council or similar environment will be highly regarded.

What we offer

- Ongoing, full-time work with a great mix of stability and flexibility to help balance life outside work
- Competitive pay with superannuation and employee benefits, including free income protection and journey insurance
- Opportunities for training and professional development to grow your skills over time
- Supportive team workplace where your work genuinely makes a difference to the local community
