O'BRIENS PLUMBING AND AIR CONDITIONING PTY LTD is looking for a full-time Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic for their thriving business.

O’Briens Plumbing & Air Conditioning is a family-owned and operated business serving Wangaratta and North East Victoria for over 30 years. The company provides a comprehensive range of plumbing, heating, cooling, refrigeration, electrical, gas, hot water, roofing, renovation, and emergency repair services, backed by qualified technicians and professional installation and servicing. O’Briens also supplies leading heating and cooling brands, including air conditioners, ducted gas heating, evaporative cooling systems, gas heaters, and wood fireplaces, with a strong focus on reliable service and quality products.

To be considered for the role, you need to have a relevant industry qualification or at least 1-2 years' experience in a similar position.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine job requirements and installation layouts
- Setup mounting systems, brackets and piping infrastructure for air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- Assemble, install and repair components, including compressors, motors, condensers and evaporators
- Cut, connect and join pipework using brazing, soldering and welding techniques,



ensuring correct alignment and fit
- Conduct pressure testing and leak detection using appropriate gases or fluids
- Evacuate systems using vacuum pumps and recharge systems with refrigerant
- Test refrigeration and air conditioning systems, monitor performance and make necessary adjustments
- Install and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including split, ducted and commercial units
- Diagnose faults and repair or replace defective system components
- Adjust system controls and mechanisms and reassemble and test systems following repairs
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Record system faults, maintenance activities and corrective actions undertaken
- Attend service calls and provide appropriate technical solutions to customer requirements
- Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles in good working condition
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant WHS requirements and industry standards
