Payroll Officer | 2-3 Month Contract | Central Coast

Somersby | Immediate Start | Onsite Parking

An established Australian organisation within the infrastructure and construction sector is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to provide interim support for an initial 2-3 month contract.

Based at the organisation's Somersby head office, this is a hands-on, standalone payroll position responsible for approximately 120 employees across weekly payrolls.

This role would suit an experienced Payroll Officer who enjoys taking ownership of their payroll, investigating discrepancies and working through exceptions rather than simply processing what's put in front of them.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day payroll function, including:

- End-to-end weekly and fortnightly payroll processing

- Processing payroll for approximately 120 employees

- Reviewing electronic timesheets and payroll exceptions

- Working across multiple EBAs and Awards

- Interpreting and applying payroll legislation and employee entitlements

- New starters, terminations and redundancy calculations

- PAYG, superannuation, leave and leave loading

- Payroll reconciliations and job costing

- Payroll tax and statutory reporting

- Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers

- Identifying discrepancies and investigating unusual payroll data

- Payroll reporting and Excel-based analysis

- Providing additional finance support where required

About You

We are looking for someone who brings:

- Robust end-to-end Australian payroll experience

- Strong Excel skills

- Experience working with Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements

- Sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation

- Strong reconciliation and reporting capability

- An enquiring and investigative approach to payroll

- Confidence questioning information and following up discrepancies

- High attention to detail and accuracy

- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of a payroll function

Experience within construction, manufacturing, infrastructure or another award/EBA-driven environment would be advantageous, although not essential.

What's On Offer?

- Initial 2-3 month contract

- Immediate / next week start

- Somersby location

- Free onsite parking

- Stable, established Australian organisation

- Standalone position with support from Finance and HR

- Predominantly office-based with occasional flexibility to work from home

If you're an experienced Payroll Officer based on the Central Coast and looking for an immediate contract where you can genuinely take ownership of the payroll function, I'd love to hear from you.
