About the Role
This role is perfect for an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) looking to work in a mental health setting that is largely clinic-based (YES! We are mostly clinic-based). You'll work with adults and children with diverse needs, delivering therapy in-clinic, via telehealth, or at times in the community.
The Occupational Therapist provides OT specific clinical expertise within the multidisciplinary team. This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive occupational assessments and contributing to the development of person-centered interventions and wellbeing plans for children and adults experiencing complex mental health challenges.
The OT plays a key role in care planning and coordination, ensuring that interventions support meaningful engagement in daily activities and promote independence, dignity, and social inclusion. The role involves close collaboration with families, carers, community services, NDIS, and schools, with a strong focus on advocacy and system navigation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) and develop individualised occupational therapy plans that reflect each client's unique needs and goals.
- Deliver evidence-based OT interventions, including therapeutic strategies, sensory integration, assistive technology (AT), and environmental modifications.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, person-centred care across service transitions.
- For experienced clinicians: Provide supervision and mentorship to junior OT and placement students.
- For early-career clinicians:
Engage in structured supervision, ongoing development, and supported learning.
- Maintain accurate documentation that meets clinical and regulatory standards.
- Work with a variety of client presentations, including Autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, developmental delays, schizophrenia, ABI and more.
- Providing assessments as part of multi-disciplinary autism diagnostic assessments.
Selection Criteria
- A degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA.
- New graduate applicants: Eagerness to learn, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Experienced applicants: Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience and demonstrated expertise across physical, cognitive, or psychosocial domains.
- Working with Children Check, Victorian Police Check.
- Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain professional indemnity insurance.
- Current driver's licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
- Mandarin and/ or Cantonese speaking (preferred but not mandatory).
- Part-time/ Full-time.
