Loy Yang B Power Station in partnership with Programmed Skilled Workforce are seeking first year apprentices to commence in January 2027 in the following trades:
- Fitting & Turning
- Electrical
Based at Loy Yang B Power Station in Traralgon, you will work with an experienced and passionate team of people committed to helping you learn.
Loy Yang B is a thermal power station comprising two electricity generating units which together provide up to 1,200MW of baseload power and supply approximately 20% of Victoria's energy needs.
The power industry is an exciting place to gain experience and become qualified with many opportunities arising in thermal and renewable electricity generation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Fitting & Turning
As an Apprentice Fitter & Turner you will learn to operate heavy machining equipment including metal lathes and milling machines to manufacture mechanical components. You will learn to assemble, rebuild and fault find for defects on mechanical plant including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, valves, pipework, and turbines.
Electrical
As an Electrical Apprentice, you will be trained to install and repair electrical networks,
systems and circuits in a heavy industrial environment. You will learn how to diagnose issues in electrical networks, fit and repair electrical components, maintain cables and wires, install electrical switchboards and read electrical circuit drawings.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
We're looking for motivated applicants with a genuine interest in starting a trade career in industry. You must be willing to complete a four-year apprenticeship and have strong basic maths and literacy skills. A Certificate II or pre-apprenticeship course in the relevant trade would be highly regarded but is not mandatory.
Applicants who have already commenced an apprenticeship will not be considered (i.e. second- or third-year apprentices) and should not apply.
