Business Overview:
Located in Martin Place, one of Sydney’s premier business and dining precincts, our venue partner, Mordeo Bistro & Bar specialises in Italian, French, and Spanish cuisine. The restaurant has curated a rich collection of produce-driven dishes ranging from tapas and share plates, wood-fired meals, hand-stretched pizzas, and daily fresh pasta to robust mains and decadent desserts. The venue prides itself on delivering a warm, friendly, and efficient dining experience, complemented by an extensive wine list and signature cocktails crafted by its in-house mixologist.
The venue also provides private dining, functions, long lunches and after-work dining, supported by its central Sydney CBD location. Its recently revamped venue brings together its previous Bistro & Bar and Pasta & Panini Bar operations under one larger venue, with seating for up to approximately 150 guests.
They are seeking a Skilled and Experienced Cooks to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is crucial in supporting kitchen operations, maintaining culinary standards, overseeing food preparation and presentation, and ensuring every dish served reflects Mordeo's reputation for quality, consistency, and excellence.
Salary: $78,000 - $83,000 AUD
Location: Shop 301/52 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, menu specifications, and quality standards.
2. Complete daily food preparation, including chopping, portioning, marinating, and mise en place.
3. Ensure food is cooked, presented, and served consistently and on time.
4. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and sanitation at all times.
5. Monitor food quality, freshness, portion sizes, and presentation.
6. Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain a clean and organised work area.
7. Assist with stock rotation, inventory control, and minimising food waste.
8. Follow dietary, allergy, and special meal requirements as instructed.
9. Work effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff during busy service periods.
10. Assist the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Requirements:
1. At least 1–3 years of relevant work experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
2. Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a quick-paced environment.
3. Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
4. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support overall kitchen operations.
