About the Role
The Groove Train Blackburn is seeking an experienced Chef to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook a range of menu items, maintain consistent food quality and presentation, and support the productive operation of the commercial kitchen during service periods.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain consistent quality, taste and presentation
- Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and appropriate quality
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers and other commercial cooking equipment
- Portion, season and present dishes in accordance with restaurant standards
- Assist with menu planning, daily specials and preparation requirements
- Monitor ingredient usage and stock levels and assist with food ordering and inventory control
- Ensure food and ingredients are stored, handled and rotated appropriately to maintain quality and minimise wastage
- Guide and support junior kitchen staff during food preparation and service
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment and storage areas
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
Candidate Requirements
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a related discipline
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and commercial kitchen operations
- Ability to prepare and cook a diverse range of menu items while maintaining consistent quality and presentation
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced restaurant environment
