Fortin Pipelines is an independent, specialist engineering consultancy providing expert advisory and design support in the development and operation of long-distance slurry and water pipeline systems worldwide.

As a Pipeline Engineer , you’ll work alongside industry leaders to support the design, analysis, and optimisation of concentrate, tailings, and water pipeline systems. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a broad range of project phases—from concept through operations—while contributing to field investigations, hydraulic modelling, cost estimation, and system design.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of slurry, tailings, and water pipeline systems.
- Perform hydraulic modelling and steady-state / transient pressure analyses using in-house tools and software (FluidFlow, Excel/VBA, AFT Impulse, or similar).
- Assist with material and equipment selection, specifications, and data sheet preparation.
- Contribute to pipeline route selection, system layout drawings, PFDs, and P&IDs.;
- Support capital and operating cost estimates and benchmarking studies.
- Participate in site visits, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities (domestic and international).
- Prepare technical reports, scopes of work, and client presentations.
- Engage with clients, vendors, and subcontractors under supervision of senior engineers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and internal R&D; initiatives in slurry pipeline design and testing.
Your Background
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in mining, heavy industry, water, or energy sectors.
- Exposure to slurry or water pipeline systems preferred (design, modelling, or operations).
- Working knowledge of design codes such as ASME B31.4 , AS 2885 , or equivalents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; skilled in Excel and hydraulic modelling.
- Some familiarity with VBA, Python, or data analysis advantageous.
- Experience preparing technical deliverables (reports, datasheets, scopes of work).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Mining Engineering.
- Perth-based, with Australian work rights.
