The Role

We are seeking experienced Tractor Operators to join a busy hay production operation in the Manangatang district for the upcoming hay season. The crew will be based in Manangatang, Victoria, and travel throughout the surrounding district to work across multiple farms. Working within the agricultural industry, you will be part of a practical, fast-paced crew operating modern machinery across diverse paddock conditions. This is a physical, outdoor role where weather conditions and crop readiness will determine daily priorities and working hours.

Key Responsibilities

You will support hay production from mowing and raking through to baling and stacking, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and within critical weather windows.

- Operate John Deere and Fendt tractors safely and efficiently across paddock and road conditions
- Rake cut hay into windrows ready for baling, adjusting technique to suit crop type, moisture levels and paddock conditions
- Operate Krone eight-string balers to produce consistent, well-formed bales
- Operate the 12-bale stacker to collect and stage bales for pickup or storage
- Assist with hay-mowing operations as required, particularly during the early stages of the season
- Complete routine pre-start checks, basic maintenance and cleaning of tractors and implements
- Identify and promptly report mechanical issues or equipment faults
- Travel between properties within the district as directed by the crew supervisor
- Communicate effectively with crew members regarding paddock progress, weather delays and equipment requirements
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures,



including machinery safety, fatigue management and controls for dust and heat exposure
- Remain flexible around working hours, including early starts, late finishes and weekend work when required

Your Skills & Experience

- Previous experience operating tractors in agriculture, hay production or a similar farming environment
- Experience with raking, baling, mowing or bale stacking will be highly regarded
- Confidence operating large agricultural machinery safely and efficiently
- Ability to complete basic machinery checks, maintenance and cleaning
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to work extended and flexible hours during peak weather windows
- Reliable, cooperative approach and strong communication skills
- Current driver's licence and access to a reliable car are required
- Ability to travel daily between properties within the district
