About our client
Up in Frames believes a beautifully finished frame starts with precision, patience and genuine pride in the craft. From it's Henley Beach workshop, Up in Frames produces custom picture frames for artists, galleries and customers. As a Framing Assistant, you will be at the heart of that work taking each job from specification through to a finished, packed and dispatch ready frame.
About the role
This role is offered on a permanent, part time basis at our client's workshop located at Henley Beach.
While direct experience isn’t required, you must have strong technical aptitude in woodworking, accurate measurement, and hands on material handling.
The position offers day shifts Monday to Friday, generally between 9:00am and 5:00pm, with flexibility in hours available to accommodate work and personal commitments.
This role spans the full framing process including cutting and joining mouldings, bracing and assembling frames, stretching canvas, final fitting and packing. You will work accurately from job specifications, balance speed with quality, and help keep the workshop running smoothly and safely.
What does the role involve?
- Interpreting job specifications and confirming materials.
- Cutting moulding to size and joining clean, square and true corners.
- Bracing, cross supporting and assembling frames to a high standard.
- Stretching canvas over stretcher bars with even tension, and unstretching for reframing.
- Checking each frame against the job specification to minimise rework and wastage.
- Constructing boxes and packing completed frames for collection or dispatch.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and well organised workshop.
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated experience in a related field where accuracy, material handling and fine craftsmanship are core e.g., woodworking, cabinetry, joinery or specialised assembly
- Robust technical capability in precise measuring, cutting and joining, with a consistent standard of accuracy and finish.
- Competent and safe operation of framing equipment, including mitre saws, underpinners and related workshop tools.
