Reporting to the Coordinator Fleet and Workshop you will guide the day-to-day work of the Workshop team and support team members to undertake their work efficiently, effectively and safely.

About you
We are looking for someone who has demonstrated experience supervising or leading a workshop, fleet or mechanical maintenance team. You will have a strong knowledge of vehicle, plant and equipment maintenance and repair along with excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Responsibilities include but not limited to;
- Lead and supervise the Workshop team, ensuring organisational, management and legislative requirements are met.
- Maintain and repair Council's fleet, including Rural Fire Service and Country Energy vehicles and plant, to manufacturer specifications.
- Plan, allocate and monitor work, while identifying opportunities to improve workshop systems and processes.
- Ensure the workshop, equipment and resources are clean, safe, well-maintained and used efficiently.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Monitor individual and team performance and progress against work plans and objectives.
- Assist with fleet procurement and budget planning and ensure responsible use of Council resources.
Who are we looking for?
- You obtain an Automotive Trade Certificate (Heavy or Light Vehicle Mechanic) or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role; or substantial contemporary experience in a similar role, coupled with ongoing professional development to support contemporary knowledge.
- Heavy and Light Vehicle RMS Authorised Inspection Officer.
- Contemporary knowledge and demonstrated experience in servicing, repairing and maintaining fleet.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in electronic fuel injection and electronic diagnosis of engines.
- Demonstrated experience in welding and oxy-acetylene.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Proven track record leading and supporting staff to achieve work targets and objectives effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and negotiation; and research and information analysis to facilitate understanding and/or decision-making.
- You've completed your Certificate of competency Forklift (LF).
- You obtain a Current HR Licence and WHS General Construction Induction (White) card.
