IKAD Engineering is a proud Western Australian private company with a national and international footprint. We provide a broad range of Project Management and Engineering solutions across a wide variety of Industry Sectors including Defence, Industrial, Mining, Marine, Oil & Gas, and Water Technology.
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Coordinator – Workshop Fabrication to join our Henderson team and support the delivery of a major long-term fabrication project.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator or workshop tradesperson ready to take the next step off the tools and into project coordination.
You may already have some supervisory, leading hand or coordination experience, or you may simply be a highly capable tradesperson with strong workshop knowledge who is ready to step up. Either way, we are looking for someone who understands fabrication from the workshop floor and can help bring together the people, priorities and production requirements needed to get the job done.
Working closely with the Project Manager and supported by our Project Engineering team, you will play an important role in the day-to-day coordination of a significant long-term project with a strong pipeline of work ahead.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager with the day-to-day coordination of workshop fabrication activities.
- Coordinate fabrication works including pipework, platework and structural fabrication.
- Help coordinate labour, workflow and short-term production priorities across the workshop.
- Compile and maintain work packs, drawings, specifications, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Monitor job progress and assist with project schedules and tracking.
- Procure materials from approved suppliers and coordinate suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor works to ensure quality, budget and timeframes are achieved.
- Assist with fabrication estimating and project planning.
- Maintain solid communication between trades, supervisors, engineering and project management.
- Support a safe and productive workshop environment.
What you will bring to the team:
- Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication / Boilermaking.
- Strong hands-on experience within a heavy fabrication workshop environment.
- A sound understanding of fabrication processes, drawings, sequencing and workshop production.
- Supervisory, Leading Hand or coordination experience would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- A genuine desire to step up, take ownership and develop into a project coordination role.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with both tradespeople and project staff.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.
- Practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to develop your project systems and administration capability.
- Current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
- Good knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a National Police Clearance prior to commencing employment.
You don't need to come to us as a finished Project Coordinator.
If you are an experienced tradesperson who knows fabrication, understands how a workshop operates and is ready to take on more responsibility, we want to hear from you. Our Project Manager and Project Engineering team can support you with the systems and computer-based side of the role — what we're looking for is strong practical fabrication knowledge, initiative and the ability to help drive work on the floor.
What we offer:
- Permanent, Full Time opportunity within a growing company.
- Opportunity to step from the tools into project coordination.
- Work on a significant long-term project with a strong pipeline of work.
- Support from an experienced Project Manager and Project Engineering team.
- Career development and opportunity to grow your project management capability.
- Great remuneration and benefits.
- A great team culture and working environment.
- Henderson location.
