Designing with clarity, collaboration, and care. That's our bond.
Opportunities like this don't come around often - this role has been held by the same person for almost a decade, and it's only now opening up. It's a rare chance to step into a senior seat at an established studio, reporting directly to our Director, Greg Bond.
We're a small, close-knit team where everyone's hands-on and every project matters, so we need someone agile, who is equally at home in big-picture design thinking and day-to-day detail. With at least 5 years' experience and a proven flair for residential design, you're ready to lead projects and grow your career in a studio that values sophisticated design and approachable service.
What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualification in architecture
- Registered architect, or actively working toward registration
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an architectural studio environment
- A demonstrated flair for residential design - we'll ask to see a portfolio that proves it
- Strong proficiency in ArchiCAD (or a quick study of new BIM tools), Enscape, and the Adobe Creative Suite, with the ability to produce high-quality renders that bring a design to life for clients
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills - you're a design collaborator, not a lone voice
- Confident articulating and presenting design ideas, including on camera for social media content
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating innovative, functional, and visually stunning designs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ongoing knowledge of local building codes, regulations, compliance requirements, and suppliers
- Time on site, not just at the desk - because knowing how things are built creates better design.
In our studio, the way we work is just as important as what we design.
We're intentional about how we come together as a team, and the service we offer our clients.
We strive to always:
- design beautiful spaces; the kind that steal your gaze and make you linger
- demystify the design process to encourage collaboration with our clients
- be smart about what can be achieved within our clients' budgets, briefs, and blocks
- not shy away from challenges or debate because it's the push and pull of design that makes our work better
- constantly pursue growth to learn, connect and improve our practice and professionalism.
You'll be a great fit if you are:
An effective communicator. You listen intently, share ideas generously, and give and receive feedback openly. Clients and teammates are always fully informed - and you're just as comfortable bringing that clarity in front of a camera, since sharing our process on social media is part of the role.
A true collaborator. You see design as a shared pursuit, not a personal statement - good ideas can come from anywhere in the room. We're looking for a design partner, not a Fountainhead.
Meticulous about the details.
You're across every project milestone, up to date on codes and planning requirements, and known as a "safe pair of hands" who manages risk well.
Commercially savvy. You keep multiple projects on track, help clients make crucial decisions, and treat deadlines as sacrosanct - switching gears without sacrificing quality or getting lost in perfectionism.
Conditions we offer
- Ability to negotiate flexible arrangements, including reducing the role to a 4-day week
- Additional week's leave (with loading), above the standard 4 weeks
- Generous end-of-financial-year performance-based bonus, determined on explicit criteria
- Extra leave to support mental health and wellbeing
- Monthly reward and recognition program
- $1000 annual professional development benefit to be used at your discretion
- Weekly team design workshops
- Hybrid working, except on team connection days on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Flexible start time up to 9.30am to support working parents or personal pursuits
- Personal Christmas bonus
- Additional paternity leave
- Salary commensurate to experience
- Superannuation as per Australian law
Cultural fit is just as important as your design credentials, so please keep this in mind when writing your application.
By 10am on Monday, August 31, send us:
- A one-page cover letter on why you're the right person for this role.
- A CV with at least two referees (preferably the contact details of at least one former client).
- Your design portfolio.
Please submit your application via Seek or write your name in the subject line and email it to: ****@atelierbond.com.au
