As we continue to grow, we’re looking for talented people who share our commitment to quality, safety and teamwork and want to build their career with a supportive, high-performing team.

Are you an early-career engineer looking for an opportunity to build practical project experience and see engineering move from drawings through to fabrication and delivery?

MFE is looking for a Junior Project Engineer, Fabrication to join our team and support the delivery of fabrication projects across our workshop operations.

Working closely with our Fabrication Manager, Superintendent and broader project team, you’ll gain hands-on exposure across engineering documentation, technical queries, fabrication progress, quality records and project controls.

This is a fantastic chance for a graduate or junior engineer who wants to develop strong foundations in project delivery and heavy industrial fabrication, while learning from an experienced team.

What you’ll be doing

- Review Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Identify drawing discrepancies, constructability issues and technical clashes.
- Raise, track and close out Technical Queries, RFIs and engineering clarifications.
- Liaise with engineers, designers, clients and internal stakeholders to resolve technical matters.
- Work closely with the Fabrication Manager and Superintendent to support daily workshop operations.
- Monitor fabrication progress against project schedules and production targets.
- Assist with coordinating materials, drawings, work packages and fabrication priorities.
- Compile and maintain Manufacturing Data Record (MDR) documentation throughout project delivery.
- Support weekly progress reporting, project registers, KPIs and productivity reporting.
- Participate in quality inspections and help identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency.

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to documentation.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office,

particularly Excel and Word.
- A proactive attitude and genuine interest in developing your career within project engineering and fabrication.

Exposure to structural steel, piping, pressure equipment, welding, fabrication, MDRs or heavy industrial projects will be highly regarded but isn’t essential. We’re equally interested in candidates with the right engineering foundations and a willingness to learn.

Why join MFE?

At MFE, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineering, project and fabrication professionals and build practical knowledge across the full fabrication lifecycle.

You’ll gain exposure to real projects, real technical challenges and the day-to-day decisions that turn engineering designs into delivered outcomes.

As part of the broader Global Group, you’ll also benefit from:

- Career development and hands-on learning with experienced industry professionals.
- Exposure to major energy and infrastructure projects and Tier 1 clients.
- A supportive, collaborative team where you can build your technical and commercial capability.
- Opportunities to grow your career as our project pipeline continues to expand.
- Employee wellbeing, reward and recognition initiatives.
- Birthday leave – because nobody should have to work on their birthday!

Ready to build your engineering career?

If you’re looking for an opportunity where you can learn, contribute and develop genuine project experience from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and take the next step in your engineering career with MFE.
