CMAX Advisory is growing, and we are looking for experienced advisers who can help clients navigate complex policy, political, industry and stakeholder environments.This role would suit someone with experience in government relations, public policy, corporate affairs, strategic communications, consulting, politics, the public service, industry or advocacy. We are particularly interested in people who are curious, commercially minded, politically astute and motivated by delivering high-quality outcomes for clients.
ABOUT USCMAX Advisory is a strategy and advisory firm providing management consulting, government relations, corporate affairs and strategic communications services to Australian and international clients.We work with organisations across sectors including financial services, defence, national security, health, energy, infrastructure, education, agriculture and emerging industries. Our clients come to us for senior advice, practical strategy, trusted stakeholder engagement and support to navigate complex operating environments.
As part of the CMAX Advisory team, you will work alongside and learn from experienced consultants, government relations advisers, communications specialists and strategists who bring deep insight into government, industry and public policy.

ABOUT THE ROLEYou will work with your CMAX Advisory colleagues to develop and deliver strategies, campaigns and engagement programs for clients operating in complex and highly regulated environments.
You will:Support client engagement across a broad range of strategic projects, campaigns and advisory workHelp develop government relations,



stakeholder engagement and campaign strategies that support clients’ objectivesSupport clients’ engagement with industry, political, departmental and other government stakeholdersAnalyse government policy, political and industry developments relevant to clientsPrepare high-quality written materials, including briefings, reports, correspondence and strategic adviceSupport the management of key client and stakeholder relationshipsContribute to project planning, delivery and coordination across client work
This is a client-facing role that requires strong judgement, excellent writing, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced advisory environment.
ABOUT YOUWe are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds. You may have worked in consulting, government, Parliament, the public service, industry, advocacy, public policy, communications or corporate affairs.
You will ideally bring a mix of the following skills and experience:Experience in consulting, working with a range of clients, managing a pipeline of work and delivering excellent client outcomesA strong understanding of the Australian political and policy environmentExperience working in, or engaging with, Parliament House, ministerial offices, government departments or agenciesExperience working with, or an interest in, sectors such as defence, national security, infrastructure, energy, health, education,



agriculture or financial servicesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong research, analytical and briefing skillsSound judgement, discretion and professionalismThe ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholdersA dynamic, flexible and highly motivated approach to workThe ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing prioritiesLeadership or project management experience, depending on seniority
