As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists to deliver high-quality patient carewhile ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the dental clinic. You will assist with clinicalprocedures, maintain infection control standards, prepare treatment rooms and equipment, andprovide exceptional service to patients throughout their visit.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients before, during and after dental procedures, ensuring a professional and supportive experience
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials and equipment for routine and sterile surgical procedures
- Provide chairside assistance to dentists during a wide range of procedures, including surgical extractions and implant placements
- Casting of impressions and production of items including bleaching trays, splints, etc. using lab equipment and materials
- Operate suction equipment and anticipate the dentist's clinical requirements to ensure effective treatment
- Clean, sterilise and maintain instruments and dental equipment in accordance with infection prevention and infection control standards
- Monitor,
audit and maintain infection control procedures to ensure compliance with practice policies and relevant regulations
- Manage the ordering, stock control and storage of dental supplies and consumables whilst maintaining cost-effective inventory levels
- Coordinate equipment maintenance, servicing and cleaning schedules to ensure all clinical equipment remains operational
- Process dental radiographs and maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
- Provide patients with oral hygiene education and post-operative care instructions.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, reception duties, billing and other administrative tasks as required.
- Induct, train and support junior staff, ensuring adherence to practice policies, procedures and quality standards.
Qualification and Experience
- At least a relevant AQF Certificate III or higher qualification
