Company Description The Insurance Commission of Western Australia is owned by the State Government of Western Australia. It manages the State’s motor injury insurance scheme and the self-insurance arrangements for WA Government agencies.
Role DescriptionThe Catastrophic Injuries Support scheme provides treatment, care and support for people who sustain an eligible injury (spinal cord, traumatic brain, amputations, burns or permanent blindness) from a motor vehicle or workplace accident in Western Australia.The scheme has delivered exceptional rehabilitation and independence outcomes for participants since it commenced in 2016.The Insurance Commission seeks expressions of interest from medical specialists and allied health professionals to perform expert review panel roles as medical experts, convenor and deputy convenor.Panels will be convened to resolve disputes about medical eligibility for scheme participation and about the treatment, care and support needs of participants.
EligibilityTo be eligible for appointment, health professionals are required to be registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (WA) to practise a health profession,



(other than as a student) and include: · Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner;· Dental Practitioner;· Medical Specialists (e.g. Rehabilitation Medicine Physician, Psychiatrist);· Registered Nurse;· Occupational Therapist;· Physiotherapist;· Clinical Psychologist; or· Neuropsychologist.· Certified practising members of Speech Pathology Australia with Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status are also eligible for appointment.
Training and credentialing in the FIM™ (or WeeFIM® for children) is desirable, but is not a pre-requisite.
Medical experts must have at least five years clinical experience and knowledge of any or more of the following injury types: · spinal cord injury;· traumatic brain injury;· amputations;· burns; · permanent blindness; or· relevant secondary injuries or conditions (e.g. depression), for adults and/or children.
