We're looking for enthusiastic and community-minded Pool Lifeguards and Senior Lifeguards to join Hepburn Shire Council for the 2026/2027 outdoor pool season.
Whether you're an experienced lifeguard or just starting out, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable aquatic industry experience while helping create safe, welcoming and enjoyable experiences for our community.
New team members will commence training in November 2026.
Returning Seasonal Lifeguards
If you worked as a seasonal lifeguard with Hepburn Shire Council during the previous pool season and continue to meet the role requirements and hold all mandatory qualifications, you may be eligible for direct reappointment for the 2026/2027 season under Council's seasonal workforce arrangements.
Position Details
- Casual positions for the 2026/2027 outdoor pool season
- Rosters across a 7-day week, including weekends and public holidays
- Work across our outdoor pools in Daylesford, Trentham and Clunes
- Opportunities available as Lifeguard (Band 3) and Senior Lifeguard (Band 4)
- Pool Lifeguard hourly rates from $27.56 to $47.61 (Band 3) inclusive of special engagement and casual loading
- Senior Pool Lifeguard hourly rates from $29.08 to $50.22 (Band 4) inclusive of special engagement and casual loading (junior rates apply in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement).
About the role
As a Lifeguard or Senior Lifeguard, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our outdoor pools by:
- Supervising pool users and maintaining a safe environment
- Responding promptly to hazards, incidents and emergencies
- Promoting safe swimming practices
- Delivering exceptional customer service
- Working as part of a supportive team committed to keeping our community safe.
About you
You'll have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and enjoy working outdoors.
You will hold, or be willing to obtain:
- Current Pool Lifeguard Qualification
- Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
- Employee Working with Children Check
- National Criminal History Check (Council will coordinate and cover the cost).
