You'll spend your days outdoors, caring for the parks, gardens and green spaces that make Launnie feel like home. From mowing and pruning to planting, weed control and irrigation, you'll bring hands-on skill and horticultural know-how to every job, helping keep our green spaces safe, tidy and thriving for the whole community to enjoy.

You'll work as part of a close-knit team that takes pride in getting the job done well, looks out for each other, and is always open to a better way of doing things.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

- Carry out horticultural maintenance, including mowing, pruning, planting, and weed identification and removal

- Install, operate and maintain irrigation systems to keep our green spaces healthy

- Take part in Council's tree planting program, growing Launceston's tree canopy

- Safely operate and maintain Council vehicles, plant and equipment





- Set up traffic management and take part in the after-hours on-call roster, supporting the community during emergencies and severe weather events

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

- A collaborative team player who keeps the community front of mind in the way you work

- A proactive approach, happy to suggest better ways of doing things

- Confidence identifying plants, weeds and pests to support effective landscape maintenance

- A safety-first mindset, taking responsibility for your own and your team's health and wellbeing

- Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent), or the ability to obtain one within an agreed timeframe

- A current Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence, or the ability to obtain one

- Current ChemCert accreditation, a General Construction Induction (White Card), TM1 Traffic Management accreditation and First Aid accreditation, or the ability to obtain these
