Workplace Health & Safety Lawyer or Senior Associate – Sydney

An exciting opportunity is available for a Lawyer or Senior Associate to join a leading Work Health & Safety team in Sydney.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside highly regarded practitioners on complex and high-profile workplace health and safety matters. You will gain exposure to a broad range of safety-related issues, including work health and safety, psychosocial risks, workplace culture, product safety, security compliance and the development and implementation of compliance systems.

The Team

The Work Health & Safety team advises clients across a broad range of safety and compliance matters, providing practical and commercially focused advice to help organisations identify, manage and respond to workplace risks.
The team has significant expertise across work health and safety, anti-terrorism, product safety, security compliance, psychosocial incidents and workplace culture. You will have the opportunity to work with experienced practitioners on complex matters while developing your technical expertise and gaining valuable exposure to emerging issues within the WHS landscape.

The Role

Based in Sydney, you will work on a diverse range of Work Health & Safety matters, advising clients on both preventative and responsive issues.
You will have exposure to workplace investigations, psychosocial incidents, workplace culture matters, safety compliance and the development and implementation of effective safety systems. The role will also provide opportunities to advise on broader product safety and security compliance issues, allowing you to develop a well-rounded practice across the safety and regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities include:

- Advising clients on work health and safety legislation, compliance and risk management.
- Assisting with workplace health and safety investigations and responses to significant incidents.
- Advising on psychosocial risks, workplace culture and mental health and wellbeing matters.
- Assisting clients with the development and implementation of WHS compliance systems.
- Advising on product safety, security compliance and other safety-related regulatory matters.
- Providing practical and commercially focused advice to clients across a range of industries.
- Building strong client relationships and working collaboratively with experienced practitioners.

Requirements:

- Experience as a Senior Lawyer, Lawyer or Senior Associate within private practice.
- Previous experience in Work Health & Safety law.
- A genuine passion for workplace health and safety and an interest in developing expertise in this area.
- Strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to provide practical and commercially focused legal advice.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to embrace innovative approaches.




- The ability to work collaboratively within a supportive and high-performing team.
