Purchasing Officer
AutoTest Pty Ltd are seeking an organised and commercially minded Purchasing Officer to support the beginning of the manufacturing supply chain. This role is responsible for sourcing quality manufacturing components at competitive prices, coordinating the receipt of products, maintaining accurate purchasing and stock records, and communicating effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
About the role
As Purchasing Officer, you will help ensure manufacturing components and finished products move through the business efficiently, accurately and on time. You will work closely with sales, manufacturing, management, couriers, transport providers and suppliers to support production timeframes, manage stock levels, create purchase orders and keep accounting and tracking systems up to date.
Key responsibilities
- Source and compare manufacturing components to secure quality products at competitive prices.
- Create purchase orders and update accounting and purchasing systems accurately.
- Receive, record and track incoming items, components and finished products.
· Prepare packing documentation and consignment notes for outgoing goods.
· Coordinate daily receipt and inventory activities across a busy supply and warehouse setting.
- Monitor stock levels and support timely availability of materials for production.
- Communicate and negotiate with courier, transport and supplier partners.
- Liaise with sales and manufacturing teams to manage supply, demand and production delays.
· Keep senior management informed of purchasing and supply-chain matters.
- Contribute to documented business systems, quality procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
About you
You will bring practical experience in procurement, supply or warehouse operations, supported by formal qualifications such as a certificate, diploma or degree in engineering, manufacturing, technical operations, logistics or a related field. Most importantly, you will be highly organised, accurate and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain reliable records and keep work moving through a manufacturing environment.
Skills and experience
· Experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, stock control or warehouse operations.
- Understanding of the importance of purchasing and supply continuity in a manufacturing process.
- Strong supplier communication, price negotiation and relationship management skills.
· Competence with Microsoft Office and transferable skills in technical, engineering or purchasing software.
· Excellent organisation skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members, team leaders and senior management.
- Commitment to quality procedures, business systems and safe work practices.
