We are partnering with a well-capitalised renewable energy developer to appoint a Senior Development Manager to lead a major late-stage wind project in NSW.
This is a genuine project leadership opportunity, bringing together planning, approvals, grid, engineering, construction, commercial, finance and stakeholder workstreams to progress the project towards Financial Close.
Role Overview You will:
- Take overall ownership of the project development strategy and programme
- Lead a planning modification to align the existing approval with the project ultimately being constructed, including turbine selection, access tracks and laydown areas
- Coordinate planning consultants, technical inputs and stakeholder consultation through to lodgement
- Progress the relevant EPBC variation/application alongside the planning modification
- Maintain strong relationships with landowners, neighbours, community stakeholders and government agencies
- Work closely with Construction and Engineering teams progressing design, balance of plant and turbine contracting
- Maintain momentum across the grid connection process and broader project programme
- Lead project budgeting, programme management, risk and reporting
- Coordinate specialist internal teams and external consultants across multiple workstreams
- Progress the project through due diligence, commercial structuring, financing and ultimately Financial Close
- Lead and develop a small dedicated team of developers
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience developing utility-scale wind projects in NSW
- Proven experience taking a wind project through NSW Development Approval (DA)
- Established understanding of, and relationships across, the NSW planning and approvals setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead a major project through multiple development workstreams
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across government, landowners, communities, consultants and internal stakeholders
- Experience working closely with construction and engineering teams to balance technical, planning, approvals and programme requirements
- Strong commercial understanding and the ability to manage project budgets, risks and competing priorities
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to coordinate specialist teams and maintain momentum across complex projects
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, planning, environmental science, project management or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in NSW wind project development
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Full Australian working rights
