About the role

Mulgrave Private Hospital is seeking a casual Emergency Department Clerk to join our dynamic and fast-paced Emergency Department team. This is a casual position based in Mulgrave, VIC 3170, offering flexible working arrangements to suit your availability. As an Emergency Department Clerk, you will play a vital administrative role in supporting the smooth operation of our Emergency Department, ensuring patients receive prompt and efficient care whilst maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.

What you'll be doing

- Welcoming and registering patients attending the Emergency Department, gathering essential information and verifying insurance details

- Provide accurate health fund checks and informed financial consent for our patients as well as answering patient questions regarding fees and Health Fund rebates.

- Preparing and maintaining medical records, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete and filed appropriately

- Processing patient admissions and discharges, liaising with clinical staff to confirm necessary information

- Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls to appropriate departments or personnel

- Providing administrative support to Emergency Department clinicians, including copying, printing and distributing documents

- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations at all times

- Supporting the implementation of hospital policies and procedures within the Emergency Department

- Assisting with clerical duties such as data entry, filing and organisation of departmental resources

What we're looking for

- Proven administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting

- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a busy environment

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and courteous manner

- Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office applications





- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail when handling confidential information and documentation

- Ability to work effectively within a team and support colleagues during peak periods

- Understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare procedures is highly desirable

- Current Working with Children Check and Police Check or willingness to obtain them

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as required
