About the role

Geological Solutions is seeking a Senior Open Cut Mine Geologist to join our dynamic team on a project in Broken Hill, NSW. This is a casual position on a FIFO 2/1 roster, 10 hour days.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to exploration and production operations, develop new skills and increase your professional networks whilst maintaining a work-life balance.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate geological and grade control activities in accordance with industry best practice.

- Design and oversee ongoing grade control drilling campaigns.

- Coordinate geological mapping, structural measurements and ore mark-ups.

- Maintain geological, drillhole, production and ore tracking databases.

- Develop, maintain and continuously improve geological and grade control models to support mine planning and production targets.

- Mentor, train and upskill junior Geologists, delivering tailored technical training that progressively builds confidence and capability.

- Supervise ore zone mining to maximise recovery and minimise dilution.

- Manage geological aspects of stockpiles and ROM pad activities.

- Compile and review reconciliation data.

- Prepare and oversee daily, weekly and monthly technical reporting.

- Mentor, train and upskill junior Geologists, delivering tailored technical training that progressively builds confidence and capability.

What we're looking for

Essential qualifications and experience:

- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, postgraduate studies highly regarded.

- Several years' experience within poly-metallic, open cut mining operations – those with previous experience with Silver, Lead, Zinc deposits strongly encouraged to apply!





- Intermediate to advanced technical skills in Vulcan (Maptek), including 2D/3D geological interpretation and grade control modelling.

- High computer literacy and solid written and verbal communication skills.

- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills

- Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Engineers, Surveyors and mining production crews.

- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to mentor, train and upskill junior Geologists, including delivering tailored technical training that progressively builds confidence and capability.

- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring and developing mine geology teams.

- Unrestricted Australian working rights.

- Current driver's licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork in remote locations

- Commitment to health, safety and environmental best practices

Preferred experience:

- Professional membership with the AusIMM, AIG or equivalent qualified body

- Experience working safely and effectively in remote exploration environments
