Or maybe you would love to do both.

About Authentic Support

Authentic Support provides practical disability support and mentoring.

Everyone’s needs and goals are different. Some people benefit from assistance with daily activities and routines. Others want to explore their interests, develop skills or work towards personal goals. Some use both services.

Whatever the support looks like, we work alongside each person, listen to what matters to them and provide the right support at the right time.

? Support Work

Sometimes people need support with everyday activities.

You might assist with:

- Daily routines and personal care

- Cooking, cleaning and household tasks

- Shopping and appointments

- Community access and transport

- Mobility support

- Routines, wellbeing, choice and independence

- Following individual support plans and safety procedures

- Completing progress notes and required documentation

Good support is not about taking over.

It means working alongside the person, listening to their preferences and providing the support they need. This may include building confidence or independence when those outcomes are important to them.

? Mentoring

Mentoring takes a different approach.

Mentoring begins with getting to know the person.

- What interests them? What are their strengths? What would they like to explore, learn or achieve?

- From there,

you work together to turn a bigger goal into small, practical and achievable steps.

- Finding a job might begin with preparing a résumé.

- Meeting new people might begin with finding a local group connected to something they already enjoy.

- Building confidence in the kitchen might begin with learning to prepare one chosen meal.

Your role is to explore the options, identify achievable next steps and work alongside the person as they progress at their own pace.

Along the way, you might find yourself hiking, gaming, bowling, cooking, preparing for employment, building computer skills or trying something completely new.

The activity is not the goal. It creates an opportunity to work towards something the person has chosen.

? About You

First and foremost, you are dependable, respectful and genuinely interested in others.

You are:

- Caring, reliable and patient

- A clear communicator and attentive listener

- Curious, positive and willing to learn

- Respectful of each person’s choices

- Able to build rapport while maintaining skilled boundaries

- Willing to follow plans, procedures and reporting requirements

- Experience in disability support or mentoring is valued, but it is not the only experience we recognise.

- Experience in community services, education, coaching, youth work, health, hospitality and other people-focused roles can bring valuable transferable skills.

- Your interests, personality and life experience matter too.

? Choose What Works for You

Support Work. Mentoring. Or both.
