About the role

JDR Homes is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join our construction team based in Ulverstone, TAS 7315. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting chance to lead carpentry operations on residential construction projects. As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you will be responsible for overseeing carpentry work, managing tradespeople, and ensuring all projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role is pivotal in maintaining JDR Homes' reputation for excellence and delivering outstanding results on every build.

What you'll be doing

- Directing carpenter teams on residential construction sites, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines

- Performing skilled carpentry work including framing, fit out, cladding and all general carpentry work

- Liaising with Site managers to coordinate work schedules and resolve any on-site issues

- Providing guidance, training and mentoring to junior carpenters and apprentices

- Identifying and managing potential safety hazards, ensuring all team members comply with workplace health and safety requirements

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification in carpentry (Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent) or extensive hands-on carpentry experience demonstrating mastery of the trade

- Proven track record in residential construction, particularly house building and finishing works

- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage teams effectively,



with excellent interpersonal skills

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural plans and technical drawings

- Competency in the use of hand tools, power tools and modern carpentry equipment

- Current driver's licence

- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
