Omega Vehicle Engineering assists customers to keep their vehicles protected and legal. We're specialists in suspension and vehicle modifications across light and heavy vehicles — GVM/GCM upgrades, heavy-vehicle modifications, import certification and trailers. This is a Western Australia–based role at our Perth workshop. We're small, practical and busy, and we're looking for a capable engineer to take on our more complex work and grow with us.
Key responsibilities
- Build and run FEA to validate structural modifications — chassis, mounts, suspension, load paths.
- Write engineering reports and risk assessments to support certification (VSB14 light / VSB6 heavy, ADRs).
- Inspect and carry out the more complex modification jobs — the ones that need real engineering judgement.
- Produce CAD models and drawings, and work closely with our technician and signatory.
- Deal with customers and suppliers along the way — this is a small business where good relationships help the work grow.
About you
- Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
- Around 5 years' experience in a relevant engineering role.
- Solid FEA skills in a recognised package — and the judgement to justify your assumptions.
- Strong report-writing and structural/mechanical fundamentals.
- Familiarity with VSB14 and/or VSB6 and the ADRs (required or well regarded).
- A practical, hands-on approach — you're as comfortable in the workshop as at the screen.
- A personable, professional manner — you enjoy working with customers and industry, not just numbers.
- Already Perth-based (this role is based in Perth at a workshop; no relocation offered).
