The Opportunity

The Contracts Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director Contracts, Logistics and Supply to administer, manage and maintain contracts in accordance with Insitu Pacific's policies and procedures. The Contracts Specialist provides advice to management and staff on contractual matters on existing contracts and new business opportunities. The Contracts Specialist contributes in the management and mitigation of contractual and commercial business risk for Insitu Pacific under general direction.

Responsibilities

- Prepare, negotiate, interpret and execute the necessary contract instruments to properly represent the intended transaction or relationship and protect Insitu Pacific's position.
- Prepare survey and quotes or proposals in relation to assigned contracts and customers.
- Develop, coordinate and negotiate amendments, variations and contract change proposals.
- Ensure that proposed commitments reflect the intended contractual outcomes and that the proposed commitments are acceptable in terms of statement of work, schedule, pricing, payment arrangements, legal and contractual obligations,



risk management or allocation and export/import compliance.
- Administer contracts ensuring proper control, execution, and compliance with policies, procedures, and audit requirements, escalating issues as necessary.
- Support the training of personnel on contractual matters by contributing to or delivering training materials and guidance developed by senior staff.
- Support the development and maintenance of pro-forma documents per procedures & direction and configuration control of all such precedents.
- Provision of advice in relation to liabilities, indemnities and insurance amongst other matters in accordance with Company policy.
- Active participant in the alignment of the Business Services objectives to the Company strategic direction.
- Provide contractual support and advice to staff on matters relating to existing contracts.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential

- Tertiary qualification in a law or business related discipline or equivalent experience.
- 6 or more years' experience in contract/subcontract management and administration.
- Working knowledge of Australian Defence contracting policies and procedures including the ASDEFCON contracting suite.
- Familiarity with US export controls including the Federal Acquisition Regulations and Defence Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).




- Competency in negotiation within defined frameworks to manage contracts and resolve issues Ability to analyse contract terms and conditions, assess risks, and make informed decisions.
- Experience in supporting project management principles and practices, handling multiple contracts under general direction
- Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- The ability to work accurately and the ability to prioritise work as required and manage external/internal resources.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in contract management software and tools, as well as the Microsoft Office suite.
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defence Security clearance to NV1 level.

Desirable

- Experience in the aerospace or Defence industry in a relevant discipline.
