Position Overview

The Cook / Breakfast Chef is responsible for preparing high‑quality breakfast and brunch dishes, maintaining an organised and efficient kitchen, and ensuring consistent food presentation and safety standards. This role plays a key part in launching and shaping the kitchen operations of a brand‑new café in Forest Lake.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook breakfast and brunch menu items to a consistent, high standard
Manage morning service, including handling peak periods with confidence
Complete daily prep, stock rotation, and maintain organised storage
Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety regulations
Maintain a clean, secure, and efficient kitchen environment
Assist with menu development, specials, and plating improvements
Work collaboratively with front‑of‑house staff to ensure smooth service
Operate independently when required and follow café procedures
Contribute positively to team culture and customer experience

Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a café, breakfast, or brunch kitchen




Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
Good communication skills and a positive, reliable work ethic
Robust attention to detail in food quality and presentation
Ability to work both independently and within a small team

Remuneration

Remuneration will be aligned with the Restaurant Industry Award and adjusted according to the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and competency. Additional increases and competitive rates may be offered following satisfactory performance and contribution to the café’s standards and operations.
