The Opportunity

A well-established Australian-owned business is seeking an experienced Shopify Developer to join its growing technical team. This is a genuine hands-on development role, building custom Shopify solutions for a variety of projects. You'll also take on a technical leadership role, guiding smaller projects and mentoring junior developers along the way.

What You'll Do
Develop custom Shopify themes and features across a range of client projects
Lead development squads and act as the technical escalation point on small to medium projects
Contribute to delivery on larger, more complex builds
Build solutions using Shopify Metafields, Metaobjects, Shopify Functions and Checkout Extensions
Solve technical problems across different projects and client accounts
Uphold best practice in code quality, security and scalability
Contribute to technical documentation and specifications
Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve development processes

What We're Looking For
3+ years' experience as a Software Engineer with a strong focus on Shopify theme development




Solid understanding of Shopify-specific features including Metafields, Metaobjects, Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions
Experience integrating search, merchandising, reviews or loyalty platforms with Shopify
Comfortable conducting code reviews and applying best practice development principles
Proficient in building custom Shopify solutions with a solid grasp of Shopify's architecture
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to design scalable, secure solutions
Excellent communication skills and a cooperative approach with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have
Exposure to back-of-house Shopify integrations
