We're partnering with an AU organisation looking for an experienced Platform Architect to own the infrastructure side of their private cloud workplace. We're ideally after someone from a medium or small enterprise, private cloud or hosting operator background, who's used to moving quick and owning outcomes end to end.

Our client is a lean boutique, and the role needs someone who lives this stuff. Someone not afraid to get on the tools and build if they have to, a go getter who's as comfortable with a client as with a team of engineers. I'm ideally looking for an architect who hasn't been off the tools, or a principal engineer who can also produce HLDs and drive architecture decisions.

What you'll be doing
Designing and building Linux infrastructure and private cloud environments
Working across OpenStack, virtualisation, compute and storage
Architecting networking, segmentation, load balancing and high availability
Applying Kubernetes and containers where it makes sense, not just for the sake of it
Driving automation through Terraform, Puppet and IaC
Designing CI/CD pipelines and deployment architecture
Building observability,



logging and monitoring into everything you design
Planning backup, disaster recovery, resilience and capacity
Managing IAM, secrets and certificates
Implementing security architecture in practice, not just on paper
Designing platform patterns for applications like Django, RabbitMQ and PostgreSQL
Architecting dev, staging and production settings
Translating application architecture into real, working infrastructure
Producing HLDs, LLDs and clear architecture decisions
Working closely with Application teams, Security Architects and DevOps

What we're after
Ideally someone with recent hands-on experience in a medium or small enterprise, private cloud or hosting operator setting.
Someone equally comfortable in a room with a client or a room with engineers and the ability to explain technical concepts in language that lands with the audience in front of you.
A go getter, someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to build
