Mackay Base Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its Coronary Care Unit on a six-week contract from late August through early October 2026. This is a rotating shift role offering up to 80 hours per fortnight across 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts, with a salary range of AUD$55.65 to AUD$70.82 per hour. The successful candidate will deliver high-level cardiac nursing care in a busy, specialised setting where clinical expertise and composure directly impact patient outcomes.
Specialised coronary care nursing in a high-acuity ward setting

Six-week contract with flexibility and the prospect to work in a leading Queensland Health facility
Preferred Requirements
Mandatory coronary care unit experience and current Advanced Life Support (ALS)
certification
Demonstrated competence in cardiac monitoring and ECG interpretation
Practical experience managing patients with acute coronary syndromes (STEMI, NSTEMI) and heart failure
Familiarity with haemodynamic monitoring, inotropes, central and arterial lines, and temporary pacing wires
Knowledge of non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP) and experience with cardiac catheterisation patients
Preferred Qualifications
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
Prior experience working within Queensland Health or Mackay Hospital and Health Service
Familiarity with ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record) systems
