Mount Gambier
City of Mount Gambier | Full Time | Fixed term 2 Years
Build the things people actually use - and live somewhere people escape to.
Some project roles keep you buried in spreadsheets.
This one puts you close to the action, delivering real infrastructure, community assets and capital works that shape how a city grows, moves, plays and connects.
The City of Mount Gambier is seeking a Coordinator Capital Projects to help plan, coordinate and deliver Council's capital works program across infrastructure, buildings, facilities, sport precincts, roads, drainage, footpaths and other key community assets.
If you can keep projects moving, contractors aligned, budgets under control and stakeholders informed, this is a chance to do meaningful work in a regional city with momentum.
Because life does not need to be all traffic, parking stress and takeaway dinners at your desk.
Mount Gambier is South Australia's regional capital on the Limestone Coast - home to crater lakes, caves, sinkholes, parks, sport, food, wine, creative culture and coastal escapes within easy reach.
You get the professional challenge of complex capital projects, with the lifestyle benefits of a connected regional city that gives you back time, space and balance.
The role
This is a hands-on coordination role supporting the successful delivery of Council's capital works program from start to finish.
You will help drive projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, delivery, commissioning and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard.
You will lead work across:
coordinating and delivering capital projects across infrastructure and building assets
managing project plans, timelines, budgets, risks and reporting
supporting tendering, procurement, contract preparation and evaluation processes
administering contracts, including variations, claims and contractor performance
working with consultants, contractors, technical teams and internal stakeholders
supporting construction management, quality assurance and site safety
preparing transparent project updates, reports and documentation
managing defects, commissioning and asset handover processes
supporting community engagement and responding to enquiries professionally
contributing to better systems, processes and continuous improvement in project delivery
This is a role for someone who can move between detail and big picture, solve problems before they become expensive, and bring people with them along the way.
What's on offer
The package is strong, and the lifestyle is even better.
38-hour week / 76 hours per fortnight
Federal Superannuation Guarantee plus an additional 1% employer contribution
RDO arrangements
flexible working options
2 additional annual leave days
About you
You will bring:
strong experience in project, contract and procurement management
experience delivering capital projects, ideally across infrastructure, construction, buildings or community assets
sound contract administration capability, including contractor and consultant management
strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
financial management capability, including budgeting, cost control and reporting
confident communication and presentation skills
the ability to work with technical teams, contractors, community members and internal stakeholders
a strong focus on safety, quality, customer service and delivery
a current Class C driver's licence
You will also need a satisfactory pre-employment medical, National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check.
It would be an advantage if you also have:
tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field
experience in local government or another regulated environment
experience using asset management systems or GIS platforms
Who this role will suit
You might be an experienced project manager, construction coordinator, contract administrator, engineering project lead or capital works professional ready for a role with variety, visibility and community impact.
You do not need to be the loudest person in the room.
You do need to be organised, commercially aware, calm under pressure and able to keep people, paperwork, safety and delivery moving in the same direction.
