Join the Town of Port Hedland as our Youth & Community Safety Project Officer and help drive meaningful initiatives that make a lasting difference.
Our Youth & Community Safety Project Officer will play a key role in developing and delivering youth and community safety initiatives that support early intervention, education, and engagement.
Working closely with the Community Safety Advisor and collaborating across departments, you will support implementation of the Town's Community Safety Plan, with a strong focus on youth diversion and place-based initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Therefore Include
Designing, coordinating, and implementing youth and community safety projects that enhance public safety and perception.
Researching and promoting best-practice models for engaging at-risk youth through education, recreation, and support.
Supporting the delivery of youth-focused initiatives under the Town's Community Safety Plan.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including WA Police, schools, service providers, and internal departments.
Collect and analyse data to inform planning and prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence.
We're seeking a collaborative professional with experience in youth engagement and community safety, strong stakeholder communication skills, and a commitment to strategic planning and delivering impactful, place-based initiatives that foster safer, more inclusive communities.
This role requires independence, alignment with our organisational values, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to safer, more inclusive communities.

Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
Tertiary qualification in community development, criminology, social science, and/or related human services discipline.
National Police Clearance
Current 'C' class driver's license
