Furphy Engineering is a member of the J. Furphy & Sons Group – a 5th generation, family-owned manufacturing business, based in Shepparton, Victoria.
The Group is made up of three galvanizing plants – Albury Galvanizing, Geelong Galvanizing and Furphy Galvanizing (located in Shepparton) – as well as Furphy Engineering.

About the Role
This role supports the Project Manager and the Projects Team in planning, coordinating and executing engineering activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.
The Project Engineer ensures technical accuracy, compliance to standards and timely delivery of project components by managing internal resources, documentation and stakeholder coordination within the team.
This role focuses on maintaining quality, optimising processes and providing technical assistance to achieve the team's objectives, and reports to the Project Team Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
Drafting & Design




Coordinate internal drafting/design reviews and prepare drawing transmittals in line with document transmittal procedures
Create drafting and design packages outlining job requirements for Draftsmen and external design suppliers, generate DXFs to support the purchasing process, and assist the Project Manager with design content
Scheduling & Bills of Materials
Support the development and approval-to-order process of job specific Bills of Materials
Create scheduling packages for the Planner/Scheduler, including known milestones and long lead time material arrival dates
Facilitate internal schedule review processes
Progress Reporting & Variations
Monitor job-specific budget/cost variance and report findings to the Project Team, while supporting Project Managers in estimating the cost and lead-time impacts of contract variations
To Be Successful in This Role You Will Require
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
Well-developed organisational and planning skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated experience using drafting applications (AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc.)
Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering industries
Knowledge of quality management systems and compliance requirements
