Position summary
We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior / Lead Control Systems Engineer to join our Brisbane based Control Systems team.
This is a hands-on technical and project leadership role working across greenfield and brownfield projects in mining, mineral processing, materials handling, energy and heavy industry.
You will take ownership of control systems project delivery, lead and mentor engineers, work directly with clients and vendors, and remain actively involved in the technical delivery of projects.

About the role
Lead the design, configuration and delivery of PLC and SCADA systems across greenfield and brownfield projects.
Manage control systems projects from initial scope and design through software development, FAT, commissioning and handover.
Remain actively involved in PLC programming, SCADA configuration, system integration and technical problem solving.
Develop and review control system architectures, philosophies, functional descriptions, control narratives, sequences, interlocks and associated engineering documentation.
Lead and participate in FAT, SAT, I/O testing, commissioning and site delivery activities.
Act as a key technical point of contact for clients, vendors and other engineering disciplines.
Identify technical and project risks, scope changes, schedule pressures and resource constraints and drive them through to resolution.
Delegate and coordinate work while maintaining responsibility for technical quality and project outcomes.
Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers through practical guidance, technical review and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to the ongoing development of ECG's engineering standards, software libraries, tools and delivery processes.
About the candidate
A relevant engineering degree, diploma or equivalent industry qualification.
Significant experience delivering industrial control systems across the full project lifecycle.
Demonstrated experience leading control systems projects and coordinating engineering teams.
Strong hands-on PLC programming experience with platforms such as Rockwell ControlLogix / CompactLogix, Siemens S7 / TIA Portal and Schneider Modicon M340 / M580.
Experience with SCADA and HMI platforms such as AVEVA Plant SCADA / Citect, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition or similar.
A good understanding of industrial networks and communications including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, Profinet, Profibus and OPC.
Experience integrating instrumentation, variable speed drives, intelligent motor control and third-party vendor equipment.
The ability to interpret P&IDs;, electrical drawings, process documentation and vendor information and translate these into practical control system solutions.
Strong client-facing, communication and leadership skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining project quality and delivery commitments.
A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering.
Experience in mining, mineral processing, materials handling, energy or heavy industrial environments will be highly regarded.
Australian working rights and the ability to travel to site when required.
