About The Role
Expressions of Interest: Grade 1 Flight Instructor to hold the position of Northern Rivers Aero Club Head of Operations, General Aviation. We are currently seeking the right individual to lead our next chapter by redeveloping and expanding our General Aviation (GA) operations.
Operations and Training Heritage
Base of Operations: Operating out of facilities on Airport Drive in South Lismore.
Training Scope: Offers pathways ranging from Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus) to general aviation private and commercial pilot licensing.
Airspace Advantage: Utilises Lismore's moderate local traffic volume alongside close proximity to Gold Coast controlled airspace to progressively build student experience.
Diverse Fleet: Features standard general aviation trainers (Cessna) alongside RAAus aircraft (Jabiru).
Key Responsibilities
Develop GA training and Club Pilot operations.
Practical Instruction:



Deliver quality flight training in compliance with the CASA Part 141 Manual of Standards (MOS) and the approved NRAC training syllabus.
Theory & Briefings: Conduct formal ground theory instruction, pre-flight briefings, and post-flight debriefings aligned with Part 141 MOS and NRAC organisational frameworks.
Compliance & Administration: Maintain precise, up-to-date student training files and oversee administrative workflows.
Leadership & Mentorship: Provide professional supervision, operational guidance, and strategic mentoring to junior flight instructors as they are appointed to the team.
Essential Requirements
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL – Aeroplane).
Grade 1 Training Endorsements.
Desirable
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE).
Multi-Engine Aeroplane (MEA) Rating and Night Visual Flight Rules (NVFR) Rating.
Instructional endorsements: Flight Instructor Rating (FIR), MEA Training Endorsement, and Instrument Rating (IR) Training Endorsement.
Valid Flight Examiner Rating (FER).
Employment Terms
Position Status: Casual.
Hours of Work: Flexible rostering, including weekend, public holiday, and out-of-hours operations to align with student needs and club training schedules.
Remuneration: Negotiable and commensurate with experience and work performed.
Compliance Requirements: Ongoing employment is subject to maintaining a valid CASA medical certificate, required piloting credentials, a current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), and full compliance with the organisation's Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP).
