The Role
The Electrical Engineer will support electrical engineering activities across a major Australian naval sustainment program, with a focus on large-scale support systems, equipment and infrastructure.
The role will contribute to the design, modification, integration and commissioning of electrical systems, including switchboards, power distribution and associated equipment.
The engineer will also support the adaptation of international equipment to meet Australian standards and regulatory requirements.
Candidates from Defence, heavy industry, major infrastructure, utilities, resources or similar complex engineering environments will be considered.

Skills & Experience
Essential
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering, ideally within Defence, heavy industry, infrastructure, utilities, resources or similar environments.
Experience designing electrical systems, including switchboards, power distribution and associated equipment.
Robust understanding of Australian electrical standards, regulations and engineering requirements.
Experience assessing or modifying international equipment to meet Australian compliance requirements.
Practical understanding of electrical installation, cabling, testing and commissioning.
Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance and relevant program access requirements.
Desirable
Experience in Defence, naval engineering, shipbuilding or submarine sustainment.
Civil infrastructure or major projects experience.
Experience working with large-scale non-vessel equipment and support systems.
Familiarity with US, UK or other international electrical standards.
Experience with engineering audits, certification or compliance activities.
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility to obtain.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and review electrical designs for support systems, equipment and infrastructure.
Design and assess switchboards, power distribution systems, cabling and associated electrical equipment.
Modify and assess international equipment to ensure compliance with Australian standards and regulations.
Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning.
Undertake site inspections and provide practical solutions to electrical issues.
Coordinate with mechanical, structural and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
Liaise with internal teams, suppliers and international stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
Support design reviews, audits, certification and engineering assurance activities.
Ensure engineering outputs comply with applicable standards, safety requirements and engineering governance.
