Diversion Case Manager – Koori Women's Diversion Program (Identified Position)

Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Diversion Case Manager to deliver the Koori Women's Diversion Program (KWDP) in Bendigo, a community-facing role within Njernda's Koori Justice and Diversion Program. You'll provide voluntary, culturally safe and tailored diversion support to Aboriginal women aged 18 years and over who are at risk of contact with the criminal justice system, developing intensive and holistic case plans from a strengths-based, self-determination approach.
This is a designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position under a special measure in accordance with section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act **** (Vic). This position is for a female applicant, given the nature of the role providing gender-specific support to Aboriginal women.
Reporting to the Youth and Wellbeing Manager, you'll work closely with courts, Corrections Victoria, Victoria Police, the Sheriff's Office and local support services across justice, housing, AOD and family violence sectors.
Develop, implement and regularly review intensive, holistic case plans that address the underlying drivers of offending behaviour and reflect self-determination
Provide culturally safe, gender‐specific support to Aboriginal women referred by courts, Corrections Victoria, host organisations, Victoria Police or other community and legal services
Support participants to access local programs and services, including housing, AOD, mental health and family violence supports
Advocate on behalf of,



and in collaboration with, participants regarding justice matters, including court support and liaison with lawyers
Provide community education on justice system processes and obligations, and assist participants with outstanding fines and warrants
Manage brokerage funds in line with Funding Agreement requirements, supporting material aid, accommodation, transport and cultural strengthening activities
Participate in RAJAC and LAJAC meetings, and maintain accurate client and expenditure records using the KJU reporting tool

$91,000 annual salary (SCHADS Level 4.1) + Super

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position
A Certificate IV in Community Services, Case Management or a related field
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
Demonstrated resilience,



reliability and a genuine desire to work with community
Ability to mentor and provide outreach support to clients with complex needs
Ability to foster and maintain relationships with justice agencies and community stakeholders
Demonstrated community connectedness and a strong understanding of Aboriginal people, culture and community
Ability to tailor and adapt program delivery to meet the needs of community
Ability to work collaboratively with clients and justice agencies to establish outcomes and goals
Ability to collect, maintain and report program data accurately
Sound understanding of the criminal justice system and diversion processes, or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge
Well‐developed written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
Experience in case management within justice, corrections, family violence, or alcohol and other drugs sectors
Desirable: Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, and knowledge of the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA4) and the Koori Justice and Diversion Program framework.
Current and valid Victorian Working with Children Check
National Police Check
Current and valid full Victorian Driver's Licence
Eligibility to work in Australia
