About the Business Emperors House Chinese Restaurant is an established Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Warrnambool.
We provide a range of traditional and contemporary Chinese dishes to our local customers and visitors.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Full time Chef to join our kitchen team and assist with the preparation and delivery of high-quality Chinese cuisine.
About the Role The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and ensuring food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
Key responsibilities include: · Preparing and cooking a variety of Chinese dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards; · Preparing ingredients including meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces and other cooking components; · Monitoring the quality, freshness and presentation of ingredients and finished dishes; · Following recipes, portion requirements and food preparation procedures; · Maintaining appropriate cooking temperatures and ensuring food is prepared and stored safely; · Assisting with menu preparation and contributing ideas for new dishes and seasonal menu items; · Managing food preparation and cooking during busy service periods; · Ensuring kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas are kept clean and organised; · Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and receiving kitchen supplies; · Minimising food wastage through appropriate preparation, storage and portion control; · Complying with food safety,



hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements; and · Working cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
About You To be successful in this position, you will ideally have: · Relevant formal qualifications in commercial cookery or hospitality; · At least 2 years of relevant commercial cooking experience; · Experience working in a Chinese restaurant or similar commercial kitchen environment; · Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and food preparation; · The ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment; · Good communication and teamwork skills; · A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements; · The ability to work independently and as part of a team; and · A reliable and professional approach to work.
We are particularly interested in applicants who have genuine commercial experience preparing a variety of Chinese dishes and are able to maintain consistent food quality during busy service periods.
