With ongoing customer demand and continued workshop operations, we are seeking a dedicated full-time Light Vehicle Mechanic to perform scheduled servicing, diagnose and repair mechanical faults, and support the efficient day-to-day operation of the workshop.
This position is ideally suited to a motivated Light Vehicle Mechanic with experience in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs, component replacement and testing, while contributing effectively to a qualified and safety-focused workshop team.
Job title: Light Vehicle Mechanic / Motor Mechanic Location: Merrylands, ****, Sydney, NSW, Australia Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 per annum + superannuation Key Responsibilities and Duties Conduct safe vehicle intake checks and preliminary assessment, confirming symptoms through observation/inspection and road testing where safe and required.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical related vehicle concerns using structured testing methods, including computer assisted diagnostics where appropriate, and convert findings into an evidence-based repair plan.
Remove and refit components as required to access, inspect and confirm faults (for example, engine‐related components, transmissions/driveline components, steering mechanisms and braking assemblies), checking part condition prior to repair decisions.
Repair and replace worn or defective parts and reassemble vehicle systems correctly by referring to manufacturer service information, specifications, torque settings and workshop procedures.




Perform scheduled maintenance services (minor/major/logbook servicing) including correct consumable selection and service sequencing to support smooth vehicle operation.
Reassemble engines/assemblies and related components correctly after repair work and undertake required function checks prior to release.
Test, adjust and verify repaired systems for correct performance (including rechecks and road testing where appropriate) and document verification results prior to customer handover.
Use diagnostic equipment to support test planning and verification documentation, ensuring evidence is recorded clearly and is traceable to the original concern.
Support parts identification and procurement processes by confirming correct vehicle specification and verifying parts on receipt prior to installation.
Maintain safe workshop practices, including correct hoist/vehicle support methods, safe tool use and clean work bay habits to protect staff, customers and vehicles.
Requirements: Minimum 1–3 years' experience as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive workshop environment.
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent relevant qualification).
Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and carry out repairs and scheduled maintenance efficiently.
Sound knowledge of workshop safety procedures, manufacturer specifications, and safe use of automotive tools and equipment, with the ability to comply with relevant workplace and regulatory standards.
Ability to inspect, repair, replace,



and reassemble vehicle components and perform post-repair checks and road testing where required.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
